Metal covers at the top of chimneys can become concave, rusty, and develop leaks. We recommend replacing damaged metal covers with new stainless steel units that shed water and provide lifetime manufacturer’s warranty against rust and corrosion.
Dampers are installed to help keep animals and the elements from entering your house while your fireplace is not in use. These can be installed directly above the firebox, or at the top of the chimney. They can be opened manually or automatically with a remote or light switch. It is important to make sure the seal on the damper is in good condition so as to keep your home sealed against the cold winter air during the winter.
Caps are installed above the chimney to help keep as much debris as possible from entering your chimney while still allowing the smoke to exit it. Caps help shed rainwater from the flue of your chimney which makes it last longer as well.
